Cherry – Calico / Mixed – Natural / Standard Grade

Wood Species / Grade Description

Weight: 2.264 Lb/Sq. Ft (Based on 3/4″ thickness)

Door Dimensions of Wood Species Pictured: 12” W x 18” H

Natural characteristics common within this species are allowed. A small percentage of pin knots, mineral, and gum pockets will be allowed on the face and in the profiled areas with voids allowed in gum pockets.

This grade will allow a mixture of sap and heartwood to blend throughout, creating a calico look. When matching center panels for this species, WalzCraft pays particular attention to ensuring that Sapwood is mated/matched to Sapwood, and Heartwood is mated/matched to Heartwood to avoid Sapwood to Heartwood transitions at a glue line.

This grade is most desirable for medium to dark stain colors. To reduce the likelihood of a blotchy finish, we highly recommend a “Spray No Wipe” stain process, not a Wiping stain process when using this species.

Special Note About Photosensitive Darkening

Due to the natural photosensitive darkening process that occurs with Cherry, Lyptus, Mahogany and Sapele, we advise that you finish these products immediately upon receiving.

If a color variation transpires, simply exposing the product to direct natural sunlight will help to result in a more even shading. Traces of shadowing (darkening) may be visible, and considered acceptable, on the back sides of product.

Disclaimer for Color

Actual product color and detail may vary due to individual computer preferences and monitor settings. We highly recommend ordering an actual product sample of the species and stain color to eliminate any confusion.
