Special Note About Photosensitive Darkening

Due to the natural photosensitive darkening process that occurs with Cherry, Lyptus, Mahogany and Sapele, we advise that you finish these products immediately upon receiving.

If a color variation transpires, simply exposing the product to direct natural sunlight will help to result in a more even shading. Traces of shadowing (darkening) may be visible, and considered acceptable, on the back sides of product.

Straight Grain Maple Veneer Wood Species
Wood: Maple - Hard - Straight Grain
Grade: Natural / Standard Veneer

Beech - Rustic Grade
Wood: Beech
Grade: Rustic Grade

Weight: 3.006 Lb/Sq. Ft (Based on 3/4″ thickness)

This unique species will have many variations allowed. Mineral and knots are common. This product may include both heartwood and sapwood. Knot size and the percentage of mineral and knots are not allowed to be specified by the customer.

All materials will be structurally sound. In an effort to utilize as many natural characteristics as possible and to improve yield, some knots may have voids and some “Canyon Knots” may be partially filled, but no visible light will show through.

Knots are characteristic of Rustic Grade, however, they are difficult to include on moldings less than 1½” wide because they substantially weaken the molding. When molding is less than 1½” wide, WalzCraft will try to maintain a Rustic Grade look without the use of knots. Occasional worm holes are allowed.

Note: All Wood Species Samples are shown with a Natural / Clear Coat (No Stain) Finish and will look different when ordered unfinished.

WalzCraft Products made using MEDEX are suitable for use in interior high moisture areas only.

Natural characteristics common within this species are allowed. A small percentage of pin knots, mineral and gum pockets will be allowed on the face and in the profiled areas with voids allowed in gum pockets.

This grade will allow a mixture of sap and heartwood blended throughout, creating a calico look. When matching center panels for this species, WalzCraft pays particular attention to ensuring that Sapwood is mated/matched to Sapwood, and Heartwood is mated/matched to Heartwood to avoid Sapwood to Heartwood transitions at a glue line.

This grade is most desirable for medium to dark stain colors. To reduce the likelihood of a blotchy finish, we highly recommend a “Spray No Wipe” stain process, not a Wiping stain process when using this species.
