Architectural Grade / Reconstituted / Composite Veneer is a wood veneer produced using a fast-growing tropical wood species, often times Obeche, along with Poplar, as well. The veneers are dyed and laid up to ‟mimic” the look of a particular species. The veneer sheets are made by laminating a block of veneer leaves together. The block is then sliced so that the edges of the laminated leaves become the “grain” of the composite veneer.

This veneer is relatively defect-free and has outstanding color and grain consistency from sheet to sheet.

This product is intended for a more contemporary look. If consistency in grain or color is important for individual doors and/or drawer fronts that will be installed directly above or below one another, we highly recommend utilizing WalzCraft’s Continuous Grain Option.

This Wood Species is most suitable for Natural/Clear Coat (no stain) and light stain colors.

Wood: Cherry - No Sap (Straight Grain)
Grade: Natural / Standard

Door Dimensions of Wood Species Pictured: 12” W x 18” H

Note: All Wood Species Samples are shown with a Natural / Clear Coat (No Stain) Finish and will look different when ordered unfinished.

Natural characteristics common within this species are allowed, but no sap is allowed on the face of the product. The sap which might appear would be in small amounts in profiled areas only.

This grade will be matched using Quarter Sawn lumber that is sorted by WalzCraft to produce a “straight-grain” look. A small percentage of pin knots, mineral, and gum pockets will be allowed on the face and in the profiled areas with voids allowed in gum pockets.

This grade is most desirable for medium to dark stain colors. To reduce the likelihood of a blotchy finish, we highly recommend a “Spray No Wipe” stain process, not a Wiping stain process when using this species.

Special Note About Photosensitive Darkening

Due to the natural photosensitive darkening process that occurs with Cherry, Lyptus, Mahogany and Sapele, we advise that you finish these products immediately upon receiving.

If a color variation transpires, simply exposing the product to direct natural sunlight will help to result in a more even shading. Traces of shadowing (darkening) may be visible, and considered acceptable, on the back sides of product.

Wood: Oak - White - Quarter Sawn
Grade: Natural / Standard

Door Dimensions of Wood Species Pictured: 12” W x 18” H

Note: All Wood Species Samples are shown with a Natural / Clear Coat (No Stain) Finish and will look different when ordered unfinished.

Oak White Quarter Sawn Natural / Standard Grade offers the same natural characteristics as Natural/ Standard Grade, with the key difference being how the wood is cut. Quarter Sawn lumber is sliced at a right angle to the tree’s growth rings, creating a ray or flake-like pattern on the surface. WalzCraft aims to achieve an even distribution of this Quarter Sawn figure across the face of each product. However, some parts—such as panel staves or stiles and rails—may display lighter figure or a Rift Sawn, straight-grain appearance. For projects requiring strong Quarter Sawn character on all parts, consider our Heavy Ray/Flake grade. This wood is best suited for medium to dark stain colors. Please note that Natural / Standard Grade orders do not carry a warranty for color consistency.

The veneer center panel is approximately .220″ (5.6mm) thick and has an “A” grade face with a #1 back on an MDF core.

Anigre Medium Figure Quarter Sawn Select Grade Veneer Wood Species
Wood: Anigre - Medium Figure - Quarter Sawn
Grade: WCI Mill Grade Veneer

Door Dimensions of Wood Species Pictured: 12” W x 18” H

Note: All Wood Species Samples are shown with a Natural / Clear Coat (No Stain) Finish and will look different when ordered unfinished.

By definition, “figure” seen in wood refers to patterns caused by color and grain differences in the wood. When Anigre is Quarter Sawn the figure is more pronounced. Natural characteristics and color variation that are usual with this species are allowed.

Like many species, anigre has a wide range of names. In the U.S., we most often refer to it as anigre, while Europeans favor the term anegre. The spelling of anegre varies, from agnegre to aningre to aningeria, aniegre and more. In Nigeria, the wood is called landosan, and, in Angola, it is know as mukali and kali. In Kenya, it is called Mukangu and muna.  Additional names include osan and mutoke landojan, m’bout osan, Tanganyika nuss, tutu and n’kali.
