French Mitered Cabinet Door Construction - Back-View - WalzCraft

WalzCraft’s French Mitered Cabinet Door construction allows you to create the ‘look’ of an applied molding traditional mortise & tenon door without the need to apply any molding to the door. The back of the French Mitered door reveals this secret, which uses mitered stile and rail profiles to create this unique look.

When ordering a French Mitered Cabinet Doors or Drawer Fronts, use one of our 600 Series Mitered Stile & Rail Profiles that includes a “FM” label for French Mitered in the profile drawing.  To complete your design choose any of our standard Outside Edge Profiles and Center Panel Profiles.  The WalzCraft French Miter construction is available with flat panel or raised panel cabinet doors and drawer fronts.

An additional feature of WalzCraft French Mitered Cabinet Doors is the flexibility in stile and rail dimensions.  Unlike mitered doors which require all pieces of the frame to be the same width, a French Mitered door or drawer front can have different width stiles and rails in the same door.  A common example of this is a drawer front with 3“ rails and 1 ½“ top and bottom rails.

6/2011 – French Mitered Cabinet Door Design – Potter S681

Potter S681 French Mitered Cabinet Door Maple WalzCraftFrench Mitered Cabinet Door Construction - Back-View - WalzCraftThe S681 Potter offers an incredibly detailed inside frame by utilizing the WalzCraft French Miter construction. This unique method produces profiles that are typically only available with a mitered construction or in applied molding cabinet doors.

The S681 Potter uses the same inside edge as miter profile MP659-76, (view more profile options) but offers the appearance and construction of a traditional stile and rail door. While the joints look like mortise and tenon from the front, as you would see with WalzCraft’s traditional stile and rail profiles, the back of the door reveals the secret of the French Miter construction.

WalzCraft French Mitered Cabinet Doors offer flexibility in stile and rail dimensions, unlike mitered doors which require all pieces of the frame to be the same width. In this case, the S681 Potter drawer front comes standard with a 1 ½“ wide top and bottom rail. For larger drawer fronts this can easily be modified to be the same size rails as the doors. The WalzCraft French Miter construction is available with flat panel or raised panel cabinet doors.

The S681 Potter is shown using Natural/Standard Grade Hard Maple with a Spray No Wipe Champagne stain. However, any wood species and finish offered by WalzCraft is also available.
