Dovetail Drawer Box Options & Available Features
Half Blind Dovetail Drawer Boxes
WalzCraft’s most popular Drawer Box is the Style 100HB, Half Blind Dovetailed construction. This Drawer Box construction is offered in any of our available solid wood species or in a Baltic Birch Plywood alternative and is most often fitting for kitchen & bath cabinetry, furniture, and custom built-in applications. Half Blind Dovetail construction uses a progression of interlocking shapes called pins and tails, that fit tightly together. Glue locks the dovetails together, creating a strong bond at the joints, which do not require the help of any additional nails or pins. Half Blind Dovetail construction does not expose the end grain of the side panel dovetails and therefore creates a pleasing look when exposed to any cabinetry design.

Various Top Edge options are available with WalzCraft’s Dovetail Drawer Boxes. Each choice offers a functional and aesthetic purpose, allowing you to build your Drawer Boxes to function around any design requirements and preferred style. Available options are characterized by the profile (square or rounded) and the height of the front, back, and side parts (flush or with slight variances between the front, back and sides).

Drawer Box NotchingTo prepare Drawer Boxes for drawer slides and installation, WalzCraft offers a Notch & Hook Hole Combination & various DBN Series Notching options.
The DBN Drawer Box Notching Series allows for other notching patterns. The DBN100 & DBN200 patterns offer a double notch pattern using hot melt adhesive while the DBN300 & DBN400 have a single notch pattern also using hot melt adhesive. The hot melt adhesive strengthens the box and is a feature included in the price of the Drawer Box. Alternatively, the DBN500 pattern allows you to insert your own custom drawer box bottom material as no hot melt adhesive is applied when using this removable bottom panel application. Bottom panel placement will vary by project and hardware choice. Available Panel Placement Options include Bottom Mount, Flush Inset or a range of inset options ranging from 6mm (0.236″) to 16mm (0.630″). The 13mm Inset option is compatible with the NHH1 Notch & Hook Hole selection.
Salice Soft Close & “Push” Full Extension Undermount Drawer Slides are available, along with Single Extension Epoxy Drawer Runners.
WalzCraft also offers limited Blum Release Clips, sold in pairs. Other brands can be provided and installed upon request by providing the Brand and Model # of the drawer slide being used, along with the Manufacturer’s Part # of the Release Clip, if available.
The NHH1 Notch & Hook Hole Combination is available with all Dovetail Drawer Box side wall thicknesses, 1/2″, 5/8″, & 3/4″. This combination pattern is applied to the back side of the drawer box, and will accommodate drawer slides requiring notching up to 2″ wide. This pattern is our most common notching option and is compatible with many undermount drawer glide systems including Blum, Hettich, Grass, and Mepla. Salice undermount drawer glides can also be purchased directly from WalzCraft, also intended to be used in conjunction with the NHH1 notching option.

A Drawer Box Scoop is a feature that allows for easy access to Drawer Boxes functioning as a pullout. The dimension of WalzCraft’s Drawer Box Scoop is 5 7/8″ W x 7/8″ H and can be applied to Drawer Boxes 7″ in width and greater. Learn more about Drawer Box Scoops. |

An Integral Drawer Front means that when installed, the front piece of the Drawer Box is actually visible as opposed to a separate Drawer Front being attached to the front of the box. Hanging File SlotWalzCraft can prep your Drawer Boxes with a Hanging File Slot for both letter size & legal size document storage. Our manufacturing team will machine the File Slot and supply the Aluminum Bar Stock cut to size, which ships loose.
